Blooming-Tunes – Songs from the Heartland
Winner’s Announcement
and a message from the promoter of Blooming-Tunes – Suzette Weakley
What a year for great songs!! The judges had a very difficult time discerning the top entries – because 2010 was a year for some especially strong entries for Blooming-Tunes annual Song Competition. Four judges trying to narrow down their choices to ten entries and a short honorable mention list – now that was a challenge!
None the less – we have our list of winners. I would like to thank PRO WRITER – Tirk Wilder -Nashville TN – author of ‘Eyes of a Ranger’ – theme song from ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’, Dave McConnell – one of the originators of the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase and weekly sound engineer for that program, Kirby Thompson, (businessman, and Blooming-Tunes’ Man on the Street Judge. Kirby is also very active in - and a former Board of Director of - community radio WFHB – Bloomington IN) and last but not least – Joe Peters who wrote the top two winning entries for Blooming-Tunes 2009! Joe is a former Professor (Environment), and is involved with a Songwriting group out of northern Indiana called ‘SAMI’. These guys did a GREAT job and the CD is sure to be a work of art!
To those of you Songwriters who are not on this list – PLEASE take me seriously when I say that judging was extremely difficult this year and you are in great company. You are all winners just by being a Songwriter and having the faith in your music to put it out there for people to enjoy. Fact is; it would have been easy to make more than one CD with the number of high quality entries for the 2010 competition we received. As the originator and promoter of Blooming-Tunes - I personally wish to thank each and every one of your for your entries and for sharing your music with Blooming-Tunes 2010. There were several songs that got ‘single’ votes – and to have these judges spend one of their precious votes on your song – although it may not have made the 2010 CD – is an honor.
Again, thank all who entered for sharing your music with us. I hope many of you can make it to the October
17th 2010 concert to be held at the Buskirk Chumley Theater. As one
who has entered – you will be given a guest seat at the concert. I’ll need an RSVP at least two weeks prior to
the show to insure your free ticket! Be
sure to contact me for details.
Now – it is with great pleasure I give you the WINNING SONG entries for Blooming-Tunes 2010!
